A beautifully restored house in Morocco available for rent

Five columns is a beautifully restored house built in the early 18th century and situated in the Chbanat area, famous for its textile workshops, in the heart of the ancient medina of Essaouira.

There are four double bedrooms comfortably sleeping eight people, all with en-suite wet room bathrooms and electric heaters. The house is set over four floors and has two large sunny roof terraces with an outside kitchen and bar area as well as a large dining table. There are two good sized lounge salon rooms with fireplaces, comfortable chairs and a large sofa area.

The house was completely renovated back in 2005 and has been sympathetically restored retaining all the original features such as the sand stone columns, thuya wood ceilings and beautiful black and white traditional tiles in the ground floor.

The large, open plan courtyard leads to the kitchen where the surfaces and shelves are all sculpted and finished in Tadlakt which is the traditional coating of hammams in Morocco. The ground floor features a snug area with a huge open fireplace and vintage furniture.

On the first floor you will find another snug room with a corner sofa and open fireplace. There is a WC and hand basin on the landing area and two beautiful double bedrooms

The second floor holds the first of the two terraces and another double bedroom

The top floor terrace is where you will find the fourth bedroom, and from here, you can look out over the rooftops of the medina.
